Common Q&A — What's the best way to QUIT?

All smokers are not the same! There is not a “best way” to quit for everyone. At the Smoking Cessation Center, we analyze your smoking habit and come up with a plan to best help you quit. We offer nicotine replacement therapy, Zyban and serotonin uptake inhibitors. We have individual counseling and even hypnosis available. We also offer the SMART™ shot that has up to an 80% success rate.
What are the side effects of the shot?

What are the side effects of the shot?

The shot has anticholinergic properties, which means that it blocks certain receptors. Within 15 minutes of the shot you may feel drunk. This is why you must come to our clinic with a driver. Most people experience a dry mouth this means the shot is working! Occasionally people will have blurry vision when trying read. This is due to the fact that the anticholinergic medications dilate your pupils and will resolve when the scopolamine patch is removed.
What if I don’t qualify for the shot?

What is I don't qualify for the shot?

Don’t despair. Not everyone is a candidate for the shot. Though the shot helps you get through the first few weeks easier, there are other medicines that can help ease the withdrawal during these times and we are familiar with all of them. Depending on your medical condition we will pick the best method of smoking cessation for you. After the first two to three weeks, the physiologic withdrawal is over and you are faced with the same psychological withdrawal symptoms as everyone else.
What is the cost?

What is the cost?

The entire program including the educational material, video, office visit, breathing test, SMART Shot and counseling afterward cost less than 4 months of cigarettes for the average pack a day smoker. In fact, we calculate the cost of our clinic every 6 months based on the cost of a pack of name brand cigarettes at the local convenience store. Why? Because you are obviously willing to pay three times this amount each year to smoke. If you wait 4 months to decide to quit, you will have already handed over that amount of money to the cigarette companies who are slowly killing you. Should we not get the same for saving your life?

When you actually quit

You will start saving money! If you smoke two packs a day, you could save over $20,000 in 10 years. Click here to see a graph of the possible cost savings?
